Canesbalance® Bacterial Vaginosis Vaginal Pessaries

Canesbalance® gives you confidence in choosing the right BV treatment. Canesbalance® Bacterial Vaginosis Vaginal Pessaries combine a prebiotic and postbiotic  to provide women with effective relief from symptoms of bacterial vaginosis.

Canesbalance® starts to work immediately to relieve the unpleasant intimate odour associated with BV. It also helps to clear up unusual greyish/white vaginal discharge and discomfort. This triple benefit formula helps to regulate the pH level in the vagina, restrict the growth of bad bacteria, and actively support the growth of good bacteria.

Canesbalance® Vaginal Pessaries are a 7-day treatment in the form of single-dose comfort-shaped pessaries. Canesbalance® is also available as a Vaginal Gel. The formulation is the same in both formats, so you can choose the one that’s best for your needs.

How do I know it’s BV?

Common symptoms:

  • Fishy or unpleasant odour
  • Greyish-white discharge
  • Worsening of the above after sex or during your period

Everyone is different, so some women who have BV may not suffer from any symptoms. Do remember, BV is not a sexually transmitted infection and it does not usually cause any soreness or itching.

No stress!

It may feel uncomfortable, but there’s no need to be scared. BV is not an STI, nor is it caused by a lack of hygiene.

BV is a very common condition which in most cases can be treated simply and effectively.

  • Balances pH level with the help of the postbiotic lactic acid
  • Restores natural vaginal flora thanks to the nutrients provided by prebiotic glycogen
  • Restricts the growth of bad bacteria that can make symptoms linger for longer

Bacterial Vaginosis: what are the risk factors?

Your vagina is normally acidic. If the pH level increases it is causing an imbalance in the vaginal flora, and BV might occur

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never heard of bacterial vaginosis (BV) before. What is BV?

BV is the most common vaginal infection in women of childbearing age and in most cases, there is no need to worry. It’s caused by an overgrowth of certain bacteria which can be brought about by an imbalance in the pH in the vagina.

Click here to find out more about BV.

What are the main symptoms of BV?

Symptoms vary from woman to woman, but the most common symptoms to look out for include a fishy or unpleasant odour and watery, greyish-white discharge.

Click here to learn about other symptoms of BV.

I’ve noticed a really bad smell ‘down there’ and washing hasn’t gotten rid of it. How do I get rid of the odour down there?

A fishy odour is a common symptom of BV, unfortunately washing can make the smell worse rather than get rid of it. This is because excessive washing with regular soaps, shower gels or vaginal douching can change the pH balance of your vagina, leading to a BV infection and hence the odour.

    Thrush or bacterial vaginosis (BV)?

It can be difficult to know the difference between thrush and bv. It’s easy to mistake BV for thrush because awareness of BV is very is low, but in fact the symptoms and causes are different. Thrush is a yeast infection, whereas BV is a bacterial infection. Canestest® can help you diagnose common vaginal infections and is available in pharmacies or selected grocery stores.

Is BV a sexually transmitted infection (STI)?

No. It is important to remember that BV is not a sexually transmitted infection and any male sexual partners would not need treatment.

    How to treat BV?

If you’ve taken our Canestest® self-test or you’ve been diagnosed by your doctor before and you know you have BV, you can use Canesbalance® which will help you treat the symptoms of your infection. Canesbalance® BV Pessaries are a clinically proven 7-day treatment that provides immediate relief from the unpleasant odour, whilst also effectively relieves the abnormal discharge.

For more details about Canesbalance® click here.

How do Canesbalance® BV Vaginal Pessaries work?

Canesbalance® BV Vaginal Pessaries contain a prebiotic and a postbiotic. The postbiotic is lactic acid which restores the normal pH of the vagina and thus effectively relieves the unpleasant odour. The prebiotic is glycogen which provides nutrients to the good bacteria and supports their growth, restoring the normal vaginal flora. Canesbalance® BV Vaginal Pessaries are clinically proven.

What time of the day can I use Canesbalance?

Canesbalance® BV Vaginal Pessaries are best to be applied before you go to bed as laying down will help the product to say in place. Some leakage can occur with the product use. You may want to use panty liners to protect your clothing during the time you are using Canesbalance® BV Vaginal Pessaries.

Can I use Canesbalance® BV Vaginal Pessaries during pregnancy?

Canesbalance® BV Vaginal Pessaries can be used during pregnancy. However, you should see your doctor if you think you may have a vaginal infection during pregnancy.

What should I do if my symptoms don’t go away after treatment?

Consult your doctor if you experience no symptom relief after using Canesbalance® as instructed. It may be also possible that the symptoms are caused by another condition.
